HISTORY
s-design began in 2000 by Simon Dean Parkin.
It started out small - building personal sites & homepages for friends, family etc as more of a hobby than a business. Over the years, more & more people and companies realised the potential the World Wide Web had to offer them & their customers.
As a result, s-design grew.
The s-design website has had many looks over this time, but the current incarnation, established January 2005, seems to suit us for now. We like to change our 'look' from time to time to keep the site 'fresh'.
MEET THE OWNER
After working in the insurance industry for many years, Simon sustained an injury which prevented him from continuing in full time employment, so he looked for other opportunities. With a great interest in computers & the internet, he decided to teach himself all he could about them. Part of what he learnt, was about how the internet works, and how to create webpages HTML (the most common language used to create pages on the internet). Once he had become proficient in HTML, his sights widened to include JavaScript & Flash aswell!

Before we build your website, there are 2 more important decisions you need to make. Here we'll talk about Domain Names. For hosting, see the Hosting section.
Once you have your website, and it's been uploaded to your webspace (see Hosting), you need to decide on a Domain Name.
A Domain Name is the Internet Address or URL people will type into their browser in order to get to your website. For example:- www.bmw.com or www.tesco.com
Ideally, your Domain Name should be something easy to remember or 'catchy'. However, it's also important to choose something unique, as many of the most popular Domain Names will have already been registered.
Try to think of at least 5 different Domain Names, or variations, to give yourself the best chance of registering a name you like.
Set-up & management of your Domain Name for 6 months is included in the price.

Hosting is the name given to webspace - the place where you store your webpage, and makes it possible for others to see your site.
Hosting is the way to get your website onto the World Wide Web.
How much webspace you will need, depends on how large your website is.
A typical website, consisting of 10 pages or less of text and some graphics, will comfortably fit into a 20MB hosting plan.
A graphic intensive website may need 80MB or even 200MB of space.
Management of your webspace - creating & uploading to, for 6 months is included in the price.

OK, so you've decided you want a website, but what now? You send us an enquiry (via Contact). We then discuss your requirments. If you're happy & instruct us to proceed, you'll be asked to make payment of 50% of the total cost of the project. The advance payment ensures s-design are compensated for any work done, even if you should decide to change your mind.
Prices are an estimate & subject to change (with your prior consent) should the work develop into more than originally envisaged.
